How do I choose the right coat for my dog?

Choosing the right coat is not just about protecting your dog from the cold, but about respecting their coat type, body structure, and real needs.

Not all dogs require the same level of protection: breed, age, sensitivity, and lifestyle all influence the choice.

A suitable coat should:

  • allow freedom of movement, without restricting the body
  • be made from breathable materials, avoiding moisture build-up or overheating
  • avoid fabrics that can cause friction or matting
  • fit the dog’s shape properly, without compressing or slipping

Length is also important: the garment should end a few centimetres before the base of the tail, leaving it free.

A coat that is too heavy, rigid, or not breathable can be uncomfortable and interfere with natural movement.

For this reason, at DIXY’S we select clothes designed to follow movement, protect without adding weight, and respect the coat.
